What's a pack actually worth?
Copy the odds table from any pack ripping app. The calculator turns it into expected value, before and after buyback.
Odds table
Each row is a value range and its odds, the way apps display them. The example below is made up; replace it with a real pack's numbers.
Reading an odds table
Find the odds
Open the pack's odds or What's Inside screen. On Rips by Triumph it's under pack style; on Arena Club it's the checklist.
Enter each band
Type each value range and its percentage. The odds should add up to 100%.
Compare to price
EV below the pack price is the average cost of ripping. Compare packs and styles on the same footing.
EV questions
What is EV in pack ripping?
Expected value (EV) is the average value you'd get per pack over many rips: each outcome's value multiplied by its probability, added up. If a $100 pack has an EV of $90, you lose $10 per pack on average.
How do I calculate pack EV from an odds table?
Most apps show odds as value bands, like 41.5% for $1,000 to $2,500. Multiply each band's value by its probability and add them up. Using each band's low end gives a floor; using the midpoint gives an estimate, which top bands with wide ranges can skew upward.
Does buyback rate change EV?
Yes. If you plan to sell pulls back, multiply EV by the buyback rate. A 90% buyback turns $100 of card value into $90 of cash or credit.
Which pack ripping sites publish odds?
Arena Club publishes full checklists with odds, Rips by Triumph shows estimated payout odds for each pack style, Packz shows values and odds before ripping, and Phygitals uses provably fair onchain draws.
Can a pack have positive EV?
Rarely, and only on paper. Odds change in real time, fair market value is set by the platform, and buyback rates below 100% cut into any edge.
Rip responsibly
Pulls are random and a card can be worth far less than the pack. Set a budget before you start and stick to it.
