Is pack ripping worth it?
As entertainment, it can be. As an investment, rarely: platforms price packs to keep a margin, and selling back pays only a share of a card's value.
Platforms set prices and odds so that, over many packs, they keep a margin. Some trackers show average pull values near or even above pack price, but those are measured at the platform's own fair market value. You only realize value by selling, and a 90% buyback on a $45 average pull from a $50 pack returns about $40.50.
What you're buying is the reveal and the chance at a big hit. If you'd spend the money on that experience anyway, a platform with published odds, a high buyback and withdrawable cash gives you the most for it. If you want a specific card, buying that card directly is cheaper on average.
