Question
How do pack sites calculate fair market value?
Short answer
From recent sales of the same card in the same grade, adjusted by each platform's own method.
Platforms pull sales data from marketplaces and auction houses, filter outliers and compute a recent average or median. Thinly traded cards rely on fewer sales, so their values move more and differ more across platforms. Because FMV sets both odds tiers and buyback offers, it's worth spot-checking a few pulls against public sold listings.
